Did it happen? Really? Lalu actually is trounced. Man, it's taking time to sink in.
At one point of time it relly had loooked like he would go on and on and... a la Jyoti. But today he's actually has lost. SEALED. That won't free the state of corruption — that must be too old, as old as Magadh, to be shooed away — or crime or any of the shit that Bihar is in. But a negation has been registered.
Bihar is still in a mess and, without being too pessimistic, it will remain in it for quite some time come. But at least it admitted the change. That's welcome. Chaila raises a toast to that.

Bihari Babu, Welcome to the blogosphere! Yes, the unthinkable has happened. The alu in the samosa remains, but Lalu Raj in Bihar seems to be over for now. i don't know too much about Bihar politics to comment on whether the new dispensation under Nitish Kumar will be an improvement to the RJD's, but there are a couple of thoughts that came to my mind. 1. If anybody has successfully manipulated the style of democracy practiced in India, it has to be Lalu. English dictionaries should drop 'Machiavellian' and replace it with 'Laluesque'!
2. The Jyoti Babu/Left Front story is different. It is also a testbook case! These guys have realised where real power flows from and assidiously cultivated the rural votebank. And I feel it's good enough to rule Bengal for the next, dare I say, 50 more years!
Tridib: Thanks a lot. But I beg to differ. Lalu and LF (in WB) actually has a lot in common. Perhaps I'd illustrate some other time. Meanwhile, I dare you to come and stay in Kol. You either have to be dumb or shut your eyes in not to be irritated out of your mind. There's of course another possibility that lots of budhdhijibis adopt: If you can't beat 'em...
lalu tragedy apart, the best lesson politicians should learn is from the plight of ramvilas paswan.
